Big Surfing, November 20, 2016, Encinitas, California
Included in a short November 2016 visit to my son and daughter-in-law in San Diego was a drop-in stop at Swamis surf area in neighboring Encinitas. Once again I got lucky with weather offshore that brought in big waves on Sunday. I spent about 2 hours there and captured some great surfing talent on display. Other images are included from the weekend as well. The water color and hue was already nice when I got there, but got really special after about 1:30PM. A local man beside me commented on the wonderful color and said in "a hundred visits" to Swamis he had never seen the waves that color. There were dark clouds and rain in the distance to the far west and south, with direct sun from high left and slightly behind the waves highlighting them.

It takes guts just to get in the water with waves like this, much less ride them.
