High Island Bird Migration 2013

Audobon's Boy Scout Woods, the perennial hot spot in Texas for spring migration in 2013 saw a little less variety of abundant species sightings but a bumper crop of Tanagers, Orioles and other great photo opportunities. An angry rat snake, super close rabbit, and interesting transition plumage added to the photo fun. Some species visited the drip in waves while others rode the winds from the south right over us. Coastal foliage and related food sources are still recovering from multiple hurricanes in the last several years. A Canon 100-400 lens hooked to a hand held Canon T3i with built-in flash were used for all of these shots over seven days in April.
