Some wild bird species adjust quickly to the comforts of a predator free and food rich public park environment. When you are interested in studying bird behavior and plumage up close it is a pleasant occasional alternative to chasing their skittish cousins in the wild. I did not feed them- I did not have to. They are so used to being fed they came to me when I approached the water.
