Classic Churches & Buildings of Vienna
Viewing the St. Charles Cathedral's dome frescoes up close showcases how artists using tricks to force a feel of perspective and distance. Figures at the top are more muted, darker, have less contrast, and less color intensity than those below. Figures are painted smaller with less crispness in the paint lines. All of this makes the top images appear much further away than they really are when viewed from the church floor. This makes the dome look higher and more majestic.
