Dave Billingsley and I spent a cold but productive morning at Anahuac and saw several birds I had not seen in years in south Texas. Two successive cold fronts may have brought in the new visitors who gave away their rookie status by being easily spooked. Hopefully they will adjust to the auto trail traffic and be more relaxed. Their skittish behavior had one benefit, though-they were quick to take flight as we approached and occasionally flew right by the car, providing more chances for in flight photos.
